How to calculate your CGPA in University, Collage and Polytechnics

Many students see CGPA calculation as magic and have loose all hope with that aspect. This tutorial will teach you the right way to calculate it. This tutorial will cover 4point grade system if you need the tutorial for 5 point then click here.
But you need to be in school running this type system:

1.      A,B,C,D,F  GRADE
2.      USING 4 POINT
3.      USING TWO SEMESTER SYSTEM

If you are in this type of school then let get going, and if you are not it can also benefit you because the process is the same anywhere.
 The steps to take
step1.  Know that in 4 point system
A = 70-100= 4POINT
B= 69-60=   3POINT
C= 59-50=   2PONT
D= 49-45=  1POINT
F= 40-0=    0POINT

Step 2
Get your transcript or result for example it say this is our result
COURSE                    GRADE           CREDIT
Financial accounting      A                        3
Principle of business      B                        2
GSP                                C                        2
Cost accounting             D                        3

Step 3
Now is time for you to start the calculation, The formula for calculating CGPA is
Total point Earn divided by Total expected point to earn multiple by the point system
TPE/TEPE * 4
FOR EXAMPLE

CALCULATION OF TPE (Total Point Earn)
To calculate Total point earn you need to multiple your credit unit by the point of the grade you earn. For example
If the credit unit is 3credit and you score B (4POINT) then the TPE
3*4= 12POINT
For five point system (A=4, B=3, C=2, D=1, F=0)

Financial accounting      A  3credit = 4*3 = 12point
Principle of business      B  2credit = 3*2 = 6point
GSP                                C  2credit = 2*2 = 4point
Cost accounting            D  3credit = 1*3 = 3point
Our TPE is { 12+6+4+3 = 25point}

CALCULATION OF TEPE (Total Expected Point Earn)
To calculate Total Expected point earn you need to multiple your credit unit by the point of the highest grade of the system which is A(4point). For example
If the credit unit is 3credit and you score B (4POINT) then the TEPE
3*4= 14POINT
 here we use 4 because is the highness grade for A in 4points system.

Financial accounting      A  3credit = 4*3 = 12point
Principle of business      B  2credit = 4*2 = 8point
GSP                                C  2credit = 4*2 = 8point
Cost accounting             D  3credit = 4*3 = 12point
Our TPE is { 12+8+8+12 = 40point}

Calculation of the GPA for first semester
TPE/TEPE *4
25/40* 4 = 2.22
Calculation of CGPA For second semester

Now you repeat all the steps above to get your TPE and TEPE
LET say the TPE is 33point and TEPE is 40point.
Now you need to add the TPE and TEPE of both first semester and second semester before getting the CGPA.

TPE = 25(FIRST) + 33(SECOND) = 58
TEPE = 40(FIRST) + 40 (SECOND) =80
·         So now the CGPA will be
TPE/TEPE * 4
58/80*4 = 2.9point
·         If you want to calculate the GPA for the second semester then you just do the normal formula.
            33/40*4 = 3.3point.
·         If you are new student then here is your bus stop. But if you are not then you need to bring your previous CGPA and make the following calculation.
Previous CGPA + new CGPA /8*4
For example if your previous CGPA is 3.56 then you will have;
3.56+3.3=6.86 then 6.86/8 * 4 = 3.43
